Each collection includes the processing and cryopreservation of that given sample. It is therefore recommended an abstention period of 48 hours prior to each collection is provided in order to maximize the number of potentially progressively motile sperm cells.
If you plan to use your stored sperm specimens with a recipient who is a sexually intimate partner, additional blood testing and medical examination are not required.
However, if the specimens may be used by a recipient who may not be a sexually intimate partner, then the donor must undergo another medical examination and blood test upon completion of the 6-month quarantine period.
It is also important to note that some treating physicians will not work with sperm samples that have not undergone the post-quarantine period for infectious disease testing.
